"Vulpin" was once featured, meaning they were chosen as an article of interest.

Vulpin is a Normal-type monster that the player is given to raise and train to fight other monsters that cause chaos in the land. It is received from the Mysterious Stranger in the beginning of the game.

This is the character that the player will control for the entirety of Vulpin Adventure.

Appearance:

Vulpins are rather short, bipedal creatures, only standing at 3'3"ft. They have long pointy ears and a short snout, and they are rather furry creatures despite looking reptilian in appearance. They also have short front arms and thicker back legs much like a T-rex, ending with a long tail tipped with a tuft of fur.

A short mohawk extends from the forehead to the neck, and there is also a tuft of fur growing around their neck. A small tuft of hair is also present in the Vulpin's back leg behind the knees.

Their colors can vary wildly from individual to individual and is determined by the preferences of their owners. It is unknown as to whether or not wild Vulpins vary in color as much as domesticated ones do, or whether or not they even exist in the wild at all. They also have beady small eyes that vary in color.

Vulpin Colors:

A Vulpin's fur color is an aesthetic choice decided by the player. At the beginning of the game, the player has a total of eight colors to choose from, but after the Paintbrushes are all discovered and used, the player ends up with twelve colors in total. These colors have no impact on a Vulpin's ability in battle, nor do they impact a Vulpin's Element. Getting all the colors will grant you the Full Palette achievement.

  • Yellow
  • Light Blue
  • Orange
  • Brown
  • Red
  • Green
  • Purple
  • Grey

As well as four fur colors that the player can only obtain with Paintbrushes:

Abilities:

Vulpins are perhaps the most skillful creature of all in Vulpin Adventure, as they can utilize every type of moves, as well as using unique moves catered to themselves such as Defend, were they guard and decrease damage taken and Meditate, increasing their happiness in the midst of a battle. Vulpins can also be taught how to restore their own health with the ability Heal.

Vulpins are also capable of investigating various Item Droppers in order to dig up supplies and equipment, such as health and MP restoring items, as well as knowing how to properly use them.

Habitat:

The player's Vulpin is the only one we see in the game, so it is unsure which specific location they would reside. However, the player's Vulpin typically resides at Home, and has been proven capable to live in other areas too due to their battle prowess.

Happiness:

A Vulpin's Happiness levels indicate how well it will perform in battle. The unhappier a Vulpin is, the more poorly it will do, while the happier a Vulpin is the more damage they deal. A Vulpin's happiness level is depleted all the way when their health points reach zero and they are forced out of battle, but a Vulpin's happiness also slowly declines if they're forced to wander around their Home for a while with no interaction or adventure outside of the meadow.

The player can restore a Vulpin's happiness by using healing items (like Banapples and Starberries) on them, no matter if they actually need healing. They can also restore a Vulpin's happiness by petting them while the two are at Home.
